Career
After his study Aircraft engineering Marcel started his career as officer at the Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF).  During his 8 years in the RNLAF he gained experience in (international) leadership, quality management, change and project management.

Marcel has used his air force experience when he started as a SAP project manager. He has lead multiple SAP (re) implementations, core/kernel roll outs, euro conversions, migrations and roll outs in the chemical, high-tech and food industry, financial services, government and energy sector.

Besides an experienced project manager Marcel has been active and experienced in change, transition and improvement roles like introducing LEAN and Agile in program- and project processes and organizations. Marcel is also an experienced coach and personal trainer.

01/03/2012 – current                       Project / Transition manager                                 Nidera BV

Environment: Trading – SAP ECC EP6 (ACM, GTS, TRM, FI/CO/MM/SD)

Nidera is an international producer, trader and marketer of agricultural and bioenergy products and services. Nidera wants to globally optimize their processes and operations supported by a Global solution for their 24 locations. Therefore the GO Program (Global Optimization) is created.

The GO Program has started a Business Process Redesign and Application Selection (RFP) process has been conducted in which SAP ACM is selected. A Kernel Development project is started and a Global Roll Out strategy has been defined.

Agile is used for Business Process Redesign and Kernel development besides ASAP 8.0 (Hybrid). Processes are captured in ARIS, which is integrated with SAP Solution Manager. SAP SOLMAN is used for all System and Test documentation.

As Program Transition Manager Marcel is responsible for Knowledge Management, Training and Support. For Support RFP ‘s have been conducted for 3rd Line and Hosting Support and a Support and Hosting partner is selected. SAP Workforce Performance Builder is selected and implemented to create User and Training Material. MS SharePoint is selected and implemented as Program repository tool.

Environment: Financial services – SAP BI7.0 /7.3, BIA, Portal, Solution Manager and Microsoft Office 2003 - 2010 / .NET
 
Rabobank uses SAP BI and portal to provide all local offices management information to manage and steer their local business including profit and loss .

The objective of the MAMBO Program is to create and maintain this single place of all required management information. Management information is presented as cockpits (BO), reports, plan & control and analyze functionality. MS Office, Clarity, SharePoint and .NET is used for the planning functionality

Besides creating and maintaining above functionality also off shore (Cognizant Technical Services) has been implemented in 2008. In 3 years more than 60% of development an system testing work is done at off shore to lower the cost and to ensure the knowledge level.

In 2010 the program started to introduce and to implement LEAN, Agile and Layered Scaled Architecture (LSA) . The project manager is the change manager and has implemented LEAN and Agile way of working and thinking. The LSA architecture is implemented by migrating the existing BI (7.0) platform to the new (7.3) LSA platform. 

01/10/2007 – 15/03/2008       Program & Change manager                                         NXP

Environment: Product Creation – ERP/EPM/PDM            

Within the IT Solution Team Product Creation the Program and Change Manager is responsible for all Study and Implementation projects. Main focus is Quality Assurance, coaching Project Managers, staffing of projects and budget reservation and allocation. Clarity is used to support these activties. The Program Manager was also responsible for implementing the Prince-II methodology within the IT Solution Team.

01/08/2006 – 30/09/2007       Project Manager                                                               NXP

Environment: Intellectual Asset Management - Anaqua

With the disentanglement of PD Semiconductors to NXP the Philips corporate organization has transferred personnel to NXP IP. Besides the transfer of personnel also IT has been transferred from Corporate Philips to NXP. NXP has introduced its own IT work environment by implementing a commercial Intellectual Asset Management (IAM) solution, called Anaqua.

The main objectives of the project were:
1.     Implement a low maintenance of the shelf IAM solution satisfying the business need of NXP IP.
2.     In view of extended outsourcing of NXP IP activities to third parties the new system should support third parties access.

Besides above business objectives also the following were applicable
1.     Integration with financial SAP-system of NXP (e.g. interfacing + configuration in SAP)
2.     Set up Application Management for Anaqua system
3.     Install required HW & SW for new package solution in the NXP Data Center in Eindhoven

Planning, budget and resources were controlled with Clarity.

Environment: SAP IS-U, CRM and BW

WML has chosen for SAP Industry Solution Utilities including CRM and BW to support their Billing and Customer Care processes. Main objectives of the project were:
1.     Increase B2B revenue
2.     Increase efficiency
3.     Cost reduction
4.     Improve customer satisfaction

Capgemini was turnkey responsible for the implementation and has used its Water template knowledge and methodology.

SAP Solution Manager was used to support the implementation.

05/04/2003 – 01/08/2005       Roll out manager                           Philips Semiconductors                         

Environment: SAP FI/CO/MM/PP/SD/PP-PI/PM/BW/P2P

The SPEED program within Philips Semiconductors incorporated a number of different projects for which a global kernel is developed and deployed to sites across the globe. It consisted of the following projects:
  • SAP for purchasing, materials management, production planning, sales, distribution, finance & accounting);
  • Adexa (production capacity modeling);
  • SAP Business Warehouse.
Within the SPEED project Marcel performed the role of kernel delivery manager with the following responsibilities:
  • Management of the overall planning and deliverables related to implementation activities
  • Operational management of kernel rollout team
  • Follow up progress on all project deliverables
  • Alignment of kernel and site project planning
  • Monitoring and control of the gaps and change requests;
  • Monitoring the kick-off and lessons learned sessions;
  • Alignment on operational level with the teams that are contributing to the SPEED rollouts (e.g. Master Data team, Support Organization and Application Control).
Marcel has been involved in various roll-outs throughout the main industry regions of the world e.g. Europe, North America, and Asia.

Due to the large number of implementations has become very experienced in the area of cultural differences, implementation methodology and related project management.

Environment: Business Process Redesign and ERP Package selection

The replacement of the existing SAP R/2 system is used to start a Business Process Redesign project and ERP selection process. During the project all main business processes have been redesigned including a new governance model. Furthermore an ERP selection has been conducted. Marcel was project manager of the 10 Business Consultants and responsible for the overall planning and budget.

The project consists of the Global re-implementation of SAP, including streamlining of Global Processes. Marcel was responsible for the planning, budget and training program in Europe (multi countries and multi sites) and the upgrade / re-implementation of SAP PM/PS/WFM for Europe.

Environment: SAP IS Aerospace & Defense

Dutch Ministry of Defense has started a 1,000 M€ program to replace it’s IT Hard & and Software to support its main business processes. During the Software and System Integrator Vendor selection process Marcel has been involved in setting up a SAP demo system reflecting the Ministry of Defense business processes.
